Competition Categories

A. Entry Level

 

  • Professional (Contestants in the level practice dance for more than 20 hours per week)

  • Amateur A (Contestants in the level practice dance for more than 10 hours per week)

  • Amateur B (Contestants in the level practice dance for less than 10 hours per week

B. Dance Categories:

 

  • ​International Ballroom

  • International Latin

  • Modern Ballroom

C. Group Categories

 

  • Solo

    • Soloists are allowed to compete in multiple dance categories, but may only register one performance in each category of dance.

  • Duet

    •  Duet performers are allowed to compete in multiple dance categories, but may only register one performance in each category of dance.

  • ​ Trio

    • Trio performances are allowed to compete in multiple dance categories, but may only register one performance in each category of dance.

  • Group

    •  Group performances are allowed to compete in multiple dance categories, but may only register one performance in each category of dance.

D. Dancing Duration & Time Limit

​

  • Solo (up to 2.5 minutes)

  • Pas de Deux (up to 3 minutes)

  • Trio (up to 3 minutes)

  • Group (up to 4 minutes)

  • Dance Drama Clip (up to 4 minutes)

  • Large Group (11-24 dancers): Maximum of 5 minutes

  • Super Group (25+ dancers): Maximum of 6 minutes

 

*A one (1) point deduction will be made for every 30 seconds exceeding the time limit.

6-7 years       PT

7-10 years     PT1

10-12 years   PT2

13-15 years   JR

16-18 years   Y1

19-24 years   Y2

25-30 years   AD

31-40 years   A1

41-50 years   A2

51-60 years   A3

61-70 years   B1

71-80 years   B2​

 

Professional Level

18 years and above

F. Prize Money and Awards

Top Teacher:*
Only points accumulated during Pro/Am events will count towards Top Teacher prize. Discounted Junior and/or Youth Pro/Am entries will count as half points. Five Places will be awarded; however only the amount of money qualified for will be given out.

Pro/Am Closed Scholarships

1st - $100      2nd - $75      3rd - $50

Pro/Am Open Scholarships

1st - $100   2nd - $80   3rd - $50

Open Amateur Adult Scholarships

1st - $100    2nd - $100   3rd - $50

NOTE: If Scholarships are uncontested, the organizer has the right to refuse the prize money. See “General Rules” for more details and requirements

G. Music

 

  • Competitors are responsible for providing their own music

  • Music file must be submitted one week prior to the competition date. Late file submissions may not be accepted.

  • Music file must be in “.mp3” format​
